Peanuts: A Charlie Brown Christmas three cel sequence setup

One of the most popular pieces of festive storytelling will go under the hammer at Heritage Auctions December 12–15 celebrating the 60th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas which was first shown in December 9, 1965.

Featuring in its The Art of Disney auction among various other examples of Charlie Brown production art is a sequential master setup of Charlie Brown carrying his tiny Christmas tree, a hand-painted, multi-cel configuration set against a hand-painted pan production background with its matching overlay cel. 

Additional lots include original production cels, concept drawings and limited editions from It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, A Boy Named Charlie Brown, and Snoopy, Come Home and more.

Among the Disney highlights in the auction are: 

  • original illustrations from Disney storybooks, including classics published as Little Golden Books
  • a Courvoisier cel setup of Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice from Fantasia, signed by Walt Disney and accompanied by an award letter to 13-year-old Irene Kanelstein
  • a large grouping of original production cels from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Tarzan
  • Mary Blair's concepts for Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and It's a Small World
